Antioxidants are compounds that inhibit oxidation by other molecules. Oxidation is a chemical process that can create free radicals which can lead to other reactions which further can damage cells including creating cancerous cells. Thousands of antioxidants have been identified that are in foods, vitamins & minerals or more simply put, those foods, vitamins & minerals contain compounds that have antioxidant properties. Antioxidants protect cells from the damage that leads to heart disease, cancer and other diseases related to aging.
